Age Calculator

Exact age in years, months and days, and whether you meet a job age limit.

Job age limit check

Fill the three boxes from the advertisement. The age on the date above is used (set it to the closing date).

How the age calculator works

Enter your date of birth and the date on which you want to know your age. The result is counted in complete years, then complete months, then the remaining days, the same way an office would count it. Leave the second date as today for your current age, or set it to the closing date of a job advertisement.

Checking a job age limit

Government advertisements state a maximum age, and usually add that the age is counted on the closing date (the last date of receiving applications). Many also give a relaxation, for example a few extra years for candidates of some categories, women, or serving employees. Put the maximum age and the relaxation in the boxes and the tool tells you whether you are within the limit and on which date you stop being eligible.

  • Age on the closing date. A candidate who is 28 years and 11 months old on the closing date is still 28. The age becomes 29 on the 29th birthday.
  • Relaxation. The relaxation is added to the maximum age. The categories that get it, and for how many years, are listed in the advertisement or the service rules.
  • Always confirm. Some departments count age on the date of the advertisement or on the date of the test. Read the exact wording before you apply.

Questions

Does it handle leap years? Yes. A birthday on 29 February is counted on 28 February in other years.

Is my date of birth saved? No. The calculation is done in your browser and nothing is sent to us.
