English Vocabulary

Good vocabulary helps you in every English paper: synonyms and antonyms, one-word substitutions, comprehension and essays. Learn a new word every day, see its meaning in English and Urdu with an example, then test yourself with flashcards and a quiz. It is free, and you do not need an account.

How to learn vocabulary for tests

Learn a few words every day and use each one in a sentence of your own. Reading the word in an example, hearing it and writing it once makes it stay in memory far better than reading a long list. Revise yesterday’s words before you start today’s.

  • Learn in pairs. Study each word with a synonym and an antonym. Tests often ask for the closest or the opposite meaning.
  • Use the quiz. After every ten words, take the flashcards and quiz to see which ones you forgot.
  • Keep a notebook. Write only the words you got wrong, and read that list before you sleep.
  • Read the newspaper. Editorials use many of the words listed here. Spotting them in real writing fixes the meaning.

The list has 62 words and grows as we add more. If you find a mistake in a meaning or an Urdu translation, please tell us.
