Law graduates have many career options in government: Civil Judge, Assistant Public Prosecutor, Assistant District Public Prosecutor, Law Officer in departments, Assistant Advocate General and others. The specific syllabus and eligibility are given in each advertisement, but the core of the written test is similar. This article explains the common areas and a study plan.

The prosecutor's role in brief
A public prosecutor represents the state in criminal cases. The role requires fairness: the prosecutor presents the case honestly, assists the court and does not seek a conviction at any cost. Understanding this idea helps you in the interview.
A study plan for 10 weeks
- Weeks 1-2: Pakistan Penal Code. Make a table of offences with definitions, essential elements and punishments.
- Weeks 3-4: Code of Criminal Procedure. Learn the process from FIR to appeal as a flow chart.
- Week 5: Qanun-e-Shahadat.
- Weeks 6-7: Constitution: rights and the structure of the judiciary.
- Week 8: Civil laws or other subjects mentioned in the syllabus.
- Week 9: English and general knowledge.
- Week 10: Past papers and mock tests.
Study methods that work for law
- Read the actual sections of the statute first, then the commentary.
- Learn key case law, with the name, the issue and the principle laid down.
- Make short charts of differences, for example between bailable and non-bailable offences, cognisable and non-cognisable offences.
- Practise by solving MCQs and writing short answers.
For the interview
- Be ready to explain basic procedure in simple words, such as how a trial starts.
- Know a few landmark judgments of the superior courts.
- Show integrity and a balanced, fair attitude.
