Computer Operator Test Preparation: Topics, Sample Questions and Study Plan

- Operating system and Windows: files and folders, shortcuts, Recycle Bin, Task Manager.
- MS Word: formatting, shortcuts, headers and footers, tables, page layout.
- MS Excel: cells, rows and columns, formulas and functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, MAX, MIN and IF.
- Internet and email: browsers, URLs, email parts (To, CC, BCC), basic security.

A 4-week plan
- Week 1: Computer fundamentals, hardware and storage.
- Week 2: Windows and MS Word. Practise on a real computer, not only in books.
- Week 3: MS Excel and internet. Type formulas yourself until they come naturally.
- Week 4: Full MCQ tests and typing practice. Revise your mistakes.
Typing practice
Many offices test typing speed. Practise 15 minutes every day with both hands and look at the screen, not the keys. A good starting target is 25 to 30 words per minute with few mistakes, then improve from there.
